Art installations draw attention to the quantum leap in public transport.

At the railway stations of Bellinzona, Lugano and Locarno, the revolution in public transport is not only to be seen in the timetable. Three art installations make the shortened travel times in the Bellinzona–Locarno–Lugano triangle visible and tangible.

The seven-metre high triangular constructions playfully take up themes characteristic of each of the towns. Thus, the glittering installation in Locarno hints at the glamorous atmosphere of the Locarno Film Festival. In Lugano, a colourful rope construction provides a colourful view of the lake. In Bellinzona, a sundial symbolises the arrival of a new age of mobility.

The whole story told by the installations is revealed to visitors when they scan a QR code with their smartphone. On a specially constructed website, they can immerse themselves in a fascinating world in which the physical environment merges with the virtual.

The art installations were created as part of the ‘Ceneri 2020’ project and can be viewed from 7 April 2021 at the railway stations of Bellinzona, Lugano and Locarno.
